SteraMist™ Disinfection Services In Santa Clarita

One of the most important things to understand, that most people don’t, is that Lysol, Clorox, and Isopropyl alcohol products are what’s known as a 3 Log Kill.  About 6 years ago we decided to make a major investment in equipment and training for the only 6 Log kill product on the market because we are in the disinfection business and have medical facilities and schools that utilize our services for this.  It’s called SteraMist™.  It was developed in the early 2000’s by DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) when anthrax filled envelopes started showing up at government agencies.  It is a 6 Log kill, which means it kills 99.9999% of viruses, bacteria, and spores.  The Lysol and Clorox based products that are being widely used are only a 3 Log kill, which means that they kill most, but not all of the virus, bacteria, and spores that are present.  Also, those products leave behind residual chemicals that are not good for humans and typically require additional cleaning to remove them from exposed surfaces. This is one of the reasons why nurses have one of the largest incidences of asthma as a profession. SteraMist™ leaves behind only Oxygen and Water as byproducts.  SteraMist™ BIT™ is EPA registered for use as a hospital-healthcare disinfectant and for effective broad-spectrum surface disinfection. This innovative technology was awarded a grant in the Fighting Ebola: A Grand Challenge for Development by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).  TOMI™ EPA claims include: SARS-CoV-2 that can cause Coronavirus, Hospital-HealthCare disinfectant, 99.9999% effective against Clostridium difficile spores3, kills 99.99% of Pseudomonas1,3, Staph1,3, Salmonella1,3, MRSA1, h1n1 virus 2, and Norovirus4. SteraMist™ Technology eliminates the colonization of bacteria on treated surfaces and inactivates viral2 cells. SteraMist™ BIT™ is also bleach, chlorine, formaldehyde, peracetic acid, and fragrance-free with no additives. You can “smell the clean” when you re-enter the room.

The method of disinfection requires that the premises be vacated during application and for approximately 60-120 minutes after application.

Here is some additional helpful information:

  • The hospital-grade disinfection system we use is the TOMI® SteraMist™ system which has an EPA inactivation claim against norovirus. SteraMist™ is also registered for a 99.9999% kill on C. difficile spores and features efficacy of inactivating Influenza A and similar, enveloped viral threats, including coronavirus.
  • American Craftsman Restoration is an Emergency Restoration/Response firm specializing in healthcare and bio-related issues.  We have crews on call 24/7 and response time is dependent on demand. If there is not a high demand for service, response time is on average 1 – 2 hours onsite from the time of a call. If there is a high demand, service is prioritized based on urgency and risk to the health and safety of occupants.
  • American Craftsman Restoration is applying an EPA registered Hospital Grade Disinfectant in a manner consistent with the label and EPA Registration. American Craftsman Restoration does not represent that structure and contents will be free of contamination such as viruses and bacteria. As doors open and close and individuals enter who might carry things such as viruses, bacteria or mold with them, the structure and contents might be contaminated after the service has been performed. It has been documented that asymptomatic people can carry viruses during the incubation period and there is no known way American Craftsman Restoration or client can know whether or not this has happened or will happen.
