Mike Cosley, Owner
Mike attended the US Air Force Academy, where he earned a degree in engineering. He served in the Air Force as a project manager, overseeing the design and construction of the Global Positioning System (GPS) remote tracking stations as the GPS system was transitioned from a test system to the fully operational one that provides worldwide navigation today.
Mike is one of the pioneers in the use of infrared thermography to detect moisture presence and was an instructor in Building Sciences and Thermography for the Building Sciences Institute.
As a Certified Restorer (CR), Mike is recognized as an expert on property damage restoration.
In 1986, he founded American Craftsman Restoration and in 2000 the company was recognized as a Big 50 company by Remodeler Magazine.
American Craftsman Restoration specializes in commercial emergency water and fire damage mitigation as well as mold remediation and hospital grade disinfection. We average more than 500 property restoration jobs per year.
Mike is also an active industry consultant who specializes in water intrusion, microbial contamination, and fire and smoke damage investigations. As a water intrusion and microbial contamination investigator for over 20 years, he has worked on high profile jobs like the Ed McMahon mold case. He frequently works to analyze microbial contamination situations, including conducting microbial sampling of occupied spaces, and works to develop remediation and/or repair protocol. During Mike’s 30 plus years in the restoration industry, he has worked on thousands of insurance damage claims and is frequently called upon to bring his industry knowledge and experience to help resolve disputes arising during the claims process. This includes acting in the capacity of an appraiser.
