Tomi Steramist™ Used in Ohio to Disinfect Jails and Police Cruisers

Butler County and Middletown jails in Ohio have been operating with added caution against the spread of COVID-19 Coronavirus in their facilities. They have fewer inmates than usual and have a two-week incubation period for new inmates to ensure they are not already infected with the virus. For the facilities themselves, they have taken the highest disinfection option by allowing a local company to use TOMI SteraMist™ to disinfect their cells and high traffic areas. The local company also applied the technology to the town’s police cruisers. At American Craftsman Restoration, we are applying this technology in the Santa Clarita and Los Angeles communities.

jail cellsAmerican Craftsman Restoration has been around for over 31 years and has been utilizing TOMI SteraMist™ and its unique BIT™ solution for almost six years. Already an industry leader in restoration after fires, floods, earthquakes, and biohazard cleanups, American Craftsman is uniquely prepared to help fight the spread of COVID-19 Coronavirus. Our technicians are on call 24/7 and depending on demand, are often onsite within two hours of getting the call.

Many people are using disinfectants like Lysol, Clorox, or Isopropyl Alcohol, which may help but only are able to produce a 3 Log kill, meaning 99.9% of viruses, bacteria, and spores killed. SteraMist™ and its unique BIT™ solution creates an ionized hydrogen peroxide fog capable of producing a 6 Log kill, that’s 99.9999% kill of all viruses, bacteria, and spores. While other products leave behind dangerous chemicals, often requiring further cleaning, SteraMist™ only leaves behind oxygen and water as byproducts. Originally created after anthrax began showing up in government buildings in the 2000’s, it is the only 6 Log kill product on the market.

American Craftsman Restoration has shifted its full focus to its disinfection and biohazard cleaning department to help fight the spread of this deadly virus in our community.

Here is some additional helpful information:

  • The hospital-grade disinfection system we use is the TOMI® SteraMist™ system which has an EPA inactivation claim against norovirus. SteraMist™ is also registered for a 99.9999% kill on difficile spores and features efficacy of inactivating Influenza A and similar, enveloped viral threats, including coronavirus.
  • American Craftsman Restoration is an Emergency Restoration/Response firm specializing in healthcare and bio-related issues.  We have crews on call 24/7 and response time is dependent on demand. If there is not a high demand for service, response time is on average 1 – 2 hours onsite from the time of a call. If there is a high demand, service is prioritized based on urgency and risk to the health and safety of occupants.
  • American Craftsman Restoration is applying an EPA registered Hospital Grade Disinfectant in a manner consistent with the label and EPA American Craftsman Restoration does not represent that structure and contents will be free of contamination such as viruses and bacteria. As doors open and close and individuals enter who might carry things such as viruses, bacteria or mold with them, the structure and contents might be contaminated after the service has been performed. It has been documented that asymptomatic people can carry viruses during the incubation period and there is no known way American Craftsman Restoration or client can know whether or not this has happened or will happen.
